Nature’s Finest: Silonay Mangrove Conservation Ecopark

Ever since I came to the Philippines, I fell in love with nature. Since then. I love visiting parks, beaches etc. This time, I was in Oriental Mindoro where Department of Tourism Region IV-B (MIMAROPA)

The 42-hectare Silonay Mangrove Conservation Area and Eco Park on Silonay islands is one of the most beautiful places that I have seen. Local officials and caretakers of the protected area me and after registering, we commenced our tour. On the east side of Calapan, Silonay Island has a land area of 87 hectares, and used to be dense with mangrove trees.

Walking down the boardwalk

The place is now a tourist attraction with the additional of a mangrove boardwalk. It is around 350 meters or so. Nature lovers can visit the mangrove area via bamboo a footbridge. The mangrove forest was impressive and it sure is a long wwalk. The place also happens to be the habitat of for 2 kind of species of bats and around 29 species of birds.

Enjoying the scene and I wanted to go kayaking!

We were suppose to go kayaking and plant some trees but unfortunately the tide was too high for us to plant tree while we were on our kayak. Instead, we got our boots on and planted some trees. It was a great experience for me since I never planted a tree. A first for me!.

Thank you for letting me plant some trees. A first for me!
