3 Must-Try Filipino Food at Amacena

Driving up all the way to Tagaytay can sure start up an an appetite. I decided to check in at One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites for the night and decided to grab some grub from their restaurant called “Amacena”. The staff welcomed me with opens arms and I asked if I wanted to try some of their new dishes. Now who am I stay to say no to that?

Amacena. They got comfy tables and chairs
I got the best seat in the house!

I find their seats quite comfy and you can choose if you would like the window seat, couch or the private room. I decided to take the couch since it has the Instagrammable “Amacena’ signage.

Best Seller: Pizza Negra (PHP 495)

The first food I tried was the Pizza Negra. It’s their current best-seller and I asked why is it called Pizza Negra? Chef Richmond of Amacena basically said that they used squid ink to make the crust look black. The moment I bit into the pizza, I was so caught off guard by the taste. It wasn’t too hard to bite. It was rather soft and it tasted like cheese. I couldn’t finish so I actually take some back into my room. I actually wanted some night leftovers in case my stomach started to grumble.

My personal favorite: Kaldareta Short Rib (PHP 750)

My personal favorite would be the Kaldareta Short Rib. I am huge fan of Pinoy delicacies and Kaldareta is one of my favorite. It’s the first time that I ever had Kaldaerta with mashed potatoes. The beef is soft and tender and once you mix the kaldareta with the mashed potatoes and steamed rice; you got a killer combination!

Inasal Prawns (PHP 565)

The next up on the list is Inasal Prawns. Now I am huge of BBQ and Inasal and now imagine my disappointment because I can’t eat prawns since I am allergic to it. It also comes with crab rice in which I am also allergic to crabs. However, Blogger Jackie found it so delicious that she finished the entire plate! If you want to read her review about it, you can visit her blog at: heyitsjacque.com.

Food tripping at Amacena!

To flush it all down I drank the Ripe Mango Shake, the perfect drink to end my dinner.Surprisingly, this drink stayed cool throughout my dinner and I never ice to cool my drink again.

I have to give kudos to the crew! With the Kuya (I forgot his name) and Chef Richmond

Overall my dinner experience here has been amazing with their wonderful staff always asking if I needed anything else and Chef Richmond for accommodating me and telling me more about the new dishes at Amacena. Watch out for my YouTube vlog!
