Asia Pacific Seeds for the Future 2022 was introduced by Huawei on Friday (August 19). For a 9-day digital boot camp in Thailand, the program will bring together 120 exceptional students from 16 nations throughout the Asia Pacific region, including 10 students from the Philippines. This year, ten Filipino delegates who are prepared to showcase their talent and skills will go on the voyage from August 19 to July 27.

Both local government leaders and ambassadors from numerous foreign organizations were present at the inauguration ceremony. They emphasized the critical importance multi-party collaboration plays in building a strong ecosystem for digital talent in the area.

H.E. Dato Lim is the ASEAN Secretary-General. The development of a Digital ASEAN, according to Jock Hoi, will be driven by digital talent. “The private sector may take a leading role in making this vision a reality. I applaud the Seeds for the Future Program initiative from Huawei Asia Pacific in this regard. This project demonstrates Huawei’s ongoing dedication to working with the ASEAN young and educating them about the demands of the workplace and industry. I hope that these initiatives might be expanded to the other ASEAN members.

Dr. Yang Mee Eng, executive director of the ASEAN Foundation, stated: “The development of the ASEAN Digital Economy is fully contingent on the capacity of the region’s youth to engage in it. It is essential for ASEAN stakeholders to build a strong learning ecosystem that enables our youth to enhance their digital abilities in order to foster a generation of digitally literate and creative problem solvers.

The remark from Ms. Emmy Lou V. Delfin, director of the DICT’s ICT Industry Development Bureau in the Philippines, was, “Thank you to Huawei for this partnership with the DICT in promoting Filipino young to become entrepreneurs through ICT. Particularly for our college kids, the Huawei Seeds for the Future program is so pertinent and important. Getting the proper education and training helps pave the way for a better future. Inspiring abilities to change the future, as your tagline puts it.

Through initiatives related to Tech4Good, participants will be engaged in technology and cross-cultural experiences while also suggesting technical fixes for social issues. This year, there are 120 participants, and 56 of them are women, making the cohort of 2022 the most gender-balanced in the area since the program’s inception.

Future Plants in Asia and the Pacific The year 2022 is not just about learning new things; it’s also about how to turn concepts into programs and endeavors that will give everyone a respectable, satisfying, and joyful existence. The Seeds for the Future initiative is crucial for students interested in ICT and digital technologies because it bridges the gap between theory and practice, according to Thailand’s Deputy Minister of Education Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich. While the Ministry of Education wants to place more of an emphasis on morality and ethics, education should also stress digital skills. This is recognized as the most important advancement in the Thai school industry, raising the standard of instruction across the board to take education to a higher plane.

Mr. Simon Lin, president of Huawei Asia Pacific, reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to talent development, saying that “the seeds” stand for future, passion, and optimism. This program has been introduced to approximately 140 nations and regions, reaching more than 12,000 students from 500 universities. It is the corporate-level flagship CSR project with the longest history. A global “forest” has developed from the “Seeds.” “Digitalization is what will shape our future. Sustainable growth and digital transformation depend on talent. We firmly think that as they pursue their technological goals, the youthful generation will develop into Asia Pacific’s builders. Added Simon Lin

A group performance of “Dream it Possible” in 16 different languages by 16 Seeds delegates marked the conclusion of the inaugural ceremony.

From now on, they would travel through culture and the digital world, stopping at places like the Grand Palace in Bangkok, the Metaverse Expo, and the United Nations Regional Hub in Bangkok. In parallel, participants will receive instruction in cutting-edge technologies like 5G, AI, and cloud computing from authorities in their fields.

The campers will be required to collaborate and develop a “Tech4Good” pitch during which they will outline their ideas for a better online environment. The best teams will receive a spot in an accelerator camp that will run from August 29 to September 4 in Singapore.

Through this camp, they will get the chance to network with eminent businesspeople and financiers, advance their projects, and promote their concepts.

Bringing together young talent from the best institutions in the world, Seeds for the Future is Huawei’s flagship CSR initiative. In an effort to motivate and inspire ICT talent to find technological solutions for societal issues, Huawei Philippines introduced the program in 2015. By the end of 2021, the program had reached more than 200 students from more than 30 universities around the nation.
