SKY Strengthens Its Collaboration With Additional Government Agencies To Combat Cable Cutting And Theft.
SKY is stepping up its effort against widespread unlawful cable cutting and theft, which has harmed the access of thousands of Filipino families to information, entertainment, and connectivity via internet and cable.
SKY has established tighter cooperation with the DILG and several barangays in Mega Manila and Central Visayas as part of the stepped-up initiatives for “Oplan: Kontra Putol,” and has also undertaken more frequent technical inspections and patrols to affected regions.
Claudia Suarez, chief operating officer of SKY, said, “SKY realizes how crucial connectivity is, especially since we are still in a hybrid arrangement for work and school.”
Courtesy visits to hotspot cities where cases are more common are planned, along with priority barangays in Cebu and 48 additional barangays in Metro Manila. As soon as feasible, Suarez said, “disrupted services will be restored thanks to the relationships established with the local government units and barangays.”
By acting quickly in response to confirmed reported problems, SKY has been able to cut the average resolution time to 4 hours since September. Since January 2022, Mega Manila and Cebu have had a total of 472 events reported by SKY and other telco partners.
SKY guarantees the availability of its security hotline +63 2 34499111 for daily monitoring and reporting of cable-cutting occurrences in Mega Manila as well as the identification of hotspots for additional patrols. This is in addition to its improved relationship with the LGUs.
In order to increase awareness of this issue among SKY customers, particularly on social media, the general public, and our partners in local government units, SKY is also stepping up its information push campaign. Suarez remarked.
Through the website www.mysky.com.ph/kontraputol, SKY’s 24/7 messaging platform KYLA on Viber (mysky.com.ph/kylaofsky), Facebook Messenger (m.me/myskyupdates), and the company’s official website (mysky.com.ph/message-us), concerned citizens can report suspected unlawful cable-cutting activities.
